Wow it's been a long time. Almost a full three months with no update. I was just reading my last few posts and well, I'm not that girl anymore. I am still Krista sure. I'm still in love with music and only music and I'm still my mother's daughter. I am no longer my father's daughter. I am no longer a student of music. Hell, I'm no longer a student. I'm not looking forward to Boston anymore because... I'm not going to Boston. I'm not really going anywhere anymore.
I'll be returning to Chicago this year. Not for school. I am officially a college drop out. I will be moving to Hyde Park to work for the Vaheys again and either another family or part time job. I will be working jobs like this until I am 41. Yes. I will be spending the next 20 years of my life working, simply to pay back my student loans that I took out and wasted on two years of college. Those two years that were supposed to lead to 2 more years and a degree. I won't have a real job, a boyfriend or husband, a family, or a life until I am 41 years old and by then what business do I have trying to start?
Yeah I realize this is just another one of my signature rants and that I always find a way to point out that this time it's different and really is worth my ranting. It may not be as big a deal to anybody else but to me and my dream... it's the end of everything.

Never in my life have I messed up the beginning of a song and had to restart. NEVER. It's just not what I do. I know my music like I wrote it myself and I know the lyrics like they are telling my story. I just got back from my vocal jury, the last singing anybody at Columbia will hear from me while I'm here. I fucked up! I chose to sing Never is Promise by Fiona Apple and what did I do?? I started singing the wrong damn verse, which isn't the same as the first so I couldn't just fake it! I had to stop and start over... I fucked up the song that I CHOSE to sing... I can definitely say goodbye to being chosen for Singers Showcase and I can say goodbye to any good impressions I've already made of the voice faculty. I guess this is goodbye...

Over a month since my last post... daaang. I've created a new blog: http://www.wormsongs.blogspot.com and it's about the same as this one except it looks a little cooler (and by a little I mean a reeeeaaaallll little) and is overall more put together. There are no random time wasting surveys and minimal ranting. It's actually quite nice. I think it is quite obvious that it has become my main blog but I will try to continue occasional LJ updates!

Update... hmmmm...
Nothing major has been happening in my oh so simple life. School, work, sleep, working out, and that's about it. Working a few hours on Thursday evenings lately have made my bank happy, going to the gym has made me happy (except for the night when I swam a bit too much and couldn't move the next day), and going to class has made my teachers happy... overall I've been pretty happy lately, a little bored at times, but definitely happy.
My mom is in Mexico with the entire office right now (hopefully nobody needs a root canal because the office is all drunk and tan in Cancun!) and she won't be back until Wednesday. I talked to her Thursday morning when she was in Miami so I could tell her about my exciting grades in my theory class that I thought I was having trouble with (apparently not!). I typically talk to my mom 2 times a day, sometimes 3 or 4 if we forget something, so the past 4 days have been causing a little anxiety for me and the next few will probably do the same. It always works out that when I really need to talk to my mom about something she is unavailable or whatever... not her fault at all, just works out that when she is busy something happens that bugs me...
I have recently created a new blog called, "Worm Songs". Jessica Justice made her new blog and after spending a while reading all of it that I had missed I decided it would be nice if I too made one. I have been really anal about making to-do lists and staying organized lately... I just recently purchased this notebook from Target called "crossitoff.list" by the company "buttoned up". It's spiral bound and hardcovered as opposed to my normal post its or peel off notepads. After using it for a week I feel like it was a might nice purchase! I have my system down and I feel more organized somehow (i think it's the more serious hardcover)... yeah... that's it.

My second voice lesson was much better. I went in with my songs printed out and told Ellen what I wanted to sing. I cut out Temptation and am now taking on Twentysomething by Jamie Cullum. She was happy with that and is digging my choice of Kelly Clarkson... Good semester ahead.

Today is one of those days. I had my first voice lesson today and I was really excited for it. I showed up with a couple of songs and a list of the other songs I want to do this semester. Right away Ellen O.K.s a couple of them and then starts suggesting all of these jazzy pop songs by Jamie Collum and asks if maybe I want to do something out of the box for me like Elton John or Billy Joel. Of course I don't want to! I do not especially like piano music and I really don't like to sing elton and billy fucking joel! Here comes the killer... She then started suggesting Beautiful by Christina Aguilera and a few other songs by her. NO NO NO NO NO!!! I want to sing songs by Jewel, Anna Nalick, Fiona Apple, Kelly Clarkson, Clapton, and Augustana. I have my semester repertoire picked out already but noooo we gotta get some sort of fucking jazz in there because she is mainly a jazz teacher... well guess what... I AM ENROLLED IN POP ROCK LESSONS!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!

Cocktail party tonight yesss! Megan, Danielle, and I have been planning this shindig for the past two weeks and the time has finally come to get all dressed up and drink bahama mamas until I can't stand any longer! In 2 hours we will be all dolled up and greeting our guests and having a fucking ball!
I am typing this all out all while sitting here with my huge ass hair (I went pretty 80's with the blowdryer) waiting another hour until I do hair and makeup because heaven forbid I be sitting around all sluttied up waiting for this thing to start! I'm listening to Hot PInk Karma and I am in a party party mood and I have been waiting all day to try the beer bread biscuits Megan made.... Update tomorrow all about the festivities!

I've been listening to some very random music today... I listened to the Jonas Brothers for a little bit because I was feeling all girly and like listening to some upbeat happy music. I was then listening to The Ataris So Long Astoria album and it reminded me of the summer after I turned 16 when I got my drivers license and was babysitting with Addy. Now I am listening to The Mars Volta Frances The Mute because somebody mentioned them recently and it's been awhile so I'm now baskng in the amazingness that is them...
Now let's throw in the more random songs... I was testing out songs that I may do for my voice lessons: Beautiful by Christina, Paper Bag by Anna Nalick, Addicted by Kelly Clarkson, Change the World by Clapton, and Never is a Promise by Fiona Apple... I think it's going to be a pretty killer semester using my pipes and just absolutely rocking for Ellen like she never thought I could!

This whole healthy lifestyle thing is proving to be less difficult than I thought! I find myself close to clueless about gym equipment but I knew enough to get me started. I have a nice little gym routine that was going well until today!! AHHHH somebody messed up on of the machines I use and of course the only thing I know about it is how much weight I set it to... the seat was too low and the chest bar thing was too low and for some reason even after a good 20 minutes I couldn't get it back to where it usually is. My plan of action: wait until tomorrow and hope one of the usual meatheads puts it back to normal! Other than that one problem, tonight was alright in the gym.
I haven't been absolutely religious about working out but I go at least every other day. Somedays I am just too sore or wiped out from being with the kids that I just come home and do nothing, which makes me feel terrible but hey nobody's perfect! Hopefully starting classes again doesn't wipe me out as well. I am very motivated right now but I'm not sure any amount of my motivation can get me through work and my increased class load this semester if it turns out to be too much.
Besides working out and such I have also drastically changed my eating habits! I have been keeping a food and gym journal which is forcing me to eat not only three meals but also a couple of "snacks". I have always been really bad about eating, like not doing so at all or eating only dinner, but now I am eating multiple times a day and I have found ways to make healthy things quite delicious by simply compromising. You can't just give up everything good for only the healthy things. It's all about taking steps and weaning yourself off of things. I've totally given up pop except for when I am drinking (which isn't very often) and I am slowly but surely moving down the milk ladder away from drinking whole milk (heavy whipping cream... somebody once told me that that's pretty much what I was drinking... wink wink P.P.).
Yes I know this post was quite random but for some reason listening to Louis XIV with Danielle made me feel like updating and the fact that I am currently quite motivated when it comes to this particular subject helped a bit too!

Today was a good day. I didn't have to work until an hour later and we just watched Peter Pan and random videos on youtube, I started my daily workout again, and I made plans for the rest of the week: Ice Skating with Ashley tomorrow, going to see 27 Dresses wiht Cat and Ashley Wednesday, The Swellers at the Beat Kitchen with Zack on Thursday, relaxing and making nachos on Friday and Cocktail party on Saturday!!

Yay for getting my computer fixed... new hard drive :(... Suck for them charging my the labor charge of $85 knocking my total with tax up to a lovely $275!!! If I would have know how easy it was I would have screwed it in my damn self!
Megan, Danielle, and I are having a cocktail party! This time it will be totally classy and hopefully turn out the way we expect it, unlike like the 1303 Extravaganzzza in October... It was fun no matter how trashy it turned out! I'm too lazy to back track through entries so I might be repeating myself here... I love the new apartment, the girls and the cat and the total atmosphere! It's a money saving heaven and it really helps with the self esteem having two girls thinking you are totally badass!
I will be working on my computer all day tomorrow trying to get it to the nice and comfortable music and picture paradise it was before the bust! I will of course be doing a massive picture update (possibly a few entries) and hopefully have nicely sized pictures and LJ cuts so I don't kill everybody's friends pages... Until tomorrow...

It's been over a month!!! Let's recap I suppose...
After my birthday things were going swell. Classes ended, I got good grades and mad a ton of money the next week just playing with the kids! I was so so so excited to get back to Michigan for a few weeks and to my surprise i wasn't let down by trip!
Christmas: AMAZING!! I've never been one to be modest about how amazing my Chritmas is. I am not your typial spoiled brat only child but I do have an incredibly imacculate only child style Christmas. There were presents all around the tree and a good two feet in front of it. I got everything I wanted and so much more. I got to see katelynn on Christmas Eve and she's just gotten so tall and she's just growing up sooo fast!
The days after Christmas were fun as well... hanging out with Jack and Add was a blast... The night was spent playing liquor pong on my dining room table and smoking the hookah on the kitchen island. It ended with Addy and I both trashed after playing 1 on 1 pong for quite some time and smoking four bowls of tobacco and playing guitar hero with no pants and boots on. We woke up at about 4am, when Justin picked her up, lying on the couch and chairs still minus pants and wearing boots... nice...
NYE: I called Addy at about noon to see if she had gotten around yet and picked up her car from Justin's house. No answer... NOON!! Addy has NEVER slept past 8 am in all of the years I have known her until now... the one day where I really need her. So I say fuck it and get around and drive to the cemetery and do what I do. I had to sit in my car for a few minutes before I drove back home because I was in no shape to be driving after the visit... hence the reason Addy comes along every year. I just forgot about it all and made sure the rest of the night was great! My mom, Doug, and I went to The casino for dinner with Paul and Sandy which was great and I won $25 playing keno (my favorite). I spent my New Years Eve at Kimmy's house with most of my best friends... Mike, Kendra, Julie, Christopher and the rest of the group that makes the trips up north to the cabin amazing! I called Sam during the final countdown so he wouldn't really be alone and then that was that, a few more hours of hanging out with the drunk kids and watching Christopher play guitar hero.
New Years Day/Harry Potter Day: I talked to jack this morning and had to vent to her about Addy not answering my call the previous morning and then the fact that she never even called me back. Jack informed me that Addy had been gone with Justin all day and actually, her car still wasn't back at the house... a day later!!! I wasn't just mad at Addy now... I was devastated. One day when I really really need her, the one day we are together for a frickin hour and she ditches me for a boy who is not only he ex boyfriend but the boy who broke up with her s he can get laid by other chicks in his couple weeks back home and funny, is still fucking addy nightly... the boy and the girl who are perfectly content with their current status where ther are the same as they were as a couple with no "I love you" and justin calls himself sings... addy however still says she is taken... I got fucked for that! I was so happy that we were going to do Harry Potter Day at Sam's. I just needed to get away and be wiht people who actually care an ounce about me. Mike, Caitlin, and I made our way over to Grand Rapids around 3 and arrived at five to have a very very late Harry Potter Day with Sam. Mike was convinced that I would only make it through like three movies... well, I made it through all five without a problem! I was really nice getting to have a second Harry Potter Day and hanging out with my boys!
Jan. 2&3: I drove Mike and Caitlin back to owosso the next day and the drove right back west over to Greenville to get me a new 'do! I got my hair dyed again, it is back to the infamous jet black and I must say it looks pretty rad. I hungout with Chanler and Logan and went home the next morning!
My mom and Rachael drove me back to Chicago on the 5th and left the next day. It was odd Sunday being alone again and not having my mom around like the past two weeks. I was soooo excited to be going back to work the next day though! I missed my kids, Ellie and David, so much! I called sam Sunday night to tell him Happy Birthday and we talked for a bit about my newly broken crappy computer. It was nice talking to Sam and I told him I would call him within the next week since he says that I never call him.
This week has been really great, playing wiht the kids again, seeing Ashley and Cat, and getting to sleep in because I don't have school yet! It's just been a greatfew weeks and so far plans for the next few weeks and starting to come together and are seeming even better!!
